The BWCA is vast and can be a bit intimidating. If you are new to the BWCA, you might want a guide. Clearwater BWCA Outfitters’ Guided Canoe Trips will send an experienced BWCA outdoorsman with you as you explore the BWCA. He will show you the best the area has to offer, and he will teach you how to camp and survive in the BWCA wilderness. We have scheduled trips available, ranging in difficulty from easy to quite challenging.
Clearwater Palisades Day Trip
This is the shortest guided day trip and is a great option for beginners or for people with limited time. With a one-mile paddle, a short hike and stunning views from the top of a 400-foot cliff, this trip offers a little bit of everything that makes the Boundary Waters a special place. Though the trail does ascend steeply right away the views into Canada and Clearwater Lake are worth every step.
After a brief introduction and paddling tutorial this trip leaves right from the dock in front of the historic lodge and rarely takes more than 2 hours to get out to the top and back.

Rose Falls Day Trip
This four to five hour guided day trip is a great option for people looking to work a little harder to visit a wilderness waterfall and climb up to some spectacular vistas of one of the most beautiful lakes in the state. This trip will give beginners a taste of paddling and portaging. After a brief introduction and as much paddling and portaging instruction as necessary you will be shuttled and dropped at the east end of West Bearskin Lake where your adventure will begin. Three miles of paddling and one short portage one way make this a moderate trip.

Johnson Falls Day Trip
This is the longest guided day trip we offer out to a lush two-tiered wilderness waterfall in the heart of the Boundary Waters; in the summer it makes for an excellent swimming spot. Four miles of paddling and three portages in one direction makes for a full day on the water; this trip typically takes eight to nine hours. The extra time and work involved in this trip is paid off by accessing a remote location most visitors never see.
Trip Length: 8-9 Hours | Trip Start Time: 9am | Trip Dates: Every Wednesday
